Sleep

Over two nights you have a country stay at The Sows Ear@ Rahui and at a premium batch at Castlepoint.

THE SOWS EAR@ RAHUI

A newly renovated rustic farm cottage set in the beautiful Rahui gardens. A major project undertaken by Lucinda and her father Bill, the open plan living space and tech free zone sets the tone for the perfect catch up with your mates. One bathroom. Four bedrooms share seven single beds and a double. One roll out on the floor makes 10 if you need.

Enjoy evening drinks on two sunny decks or wander the beautiful gardens to ground yourself in nature. Take the HMS Elsa for row across the pond. If the weather is right a bonfire is always nice. Wake to the sound of the birdsong surrounding you. Rahui water is the purest artisan spring water so be sure to drink lots. Stay up late and stargaze Wairarapa’s incredible Dark Sky. View more photos on airbnb.

CASTLEPOINT

Stay at one of Castlepoint’s premium batches. It is just a matter of availability. So whichever beachhouse you may be in, it is sure to be perfect with a bed each in any house.

There are many walks in Castlepoint. Visit the famous lighthouse and walk around the reef, or a more challenging trip to the top of Castlerock rewards you with spectacular views up and down the coast. Explore the cave, sand dunes to the north. Watch the surfers, get up close and personal to the massive fishing boats on their trailers or chill with your coffee at the store. The night offers the lighthouse light show, a mesmerising rainbow of colours projected onto the reefs huge guardian.

FAQ

HOW FIT DO I HAVE TO BE?

A moderate fitness is required as there are some big hills. It is more important to have confidence on the e-bike rather than fitness. Keen bikers are usually very capable.

IS IT ON THE ROAD?

The majority of the ride is on sleepy gravel roads. Bear in mind you may meet a logging truck if you come mid-week.

CAN THE KIDS COME?

This is a 16+ ride. The ebikes are not hired out to kids as they are heavier than normal bikes.

DO THE BIKES HAVE MOTORS?

No. The bikes have batteries that assist your peddling, so you have to peddle. There are 3 modes to choose from so you can choose how much assistance you want.
